Frequently Asked Questions
When can I start using the Grade 4 & 5 SnowPass™?
We anticipate that the Grade 4 & 5 SnowPass™ program will be open mid-December. This year, all visits to the ski areas must be pre-booked for contact tracing and capacity limits. We anticipate that the booking system will be ready to use by then.
What if my child had a SnowPass in grade 4 in 2020? Is it still valid?
Yes, your SnowPass will be valid for the 2020/21 season as well. There is no need to re-apply.
Please refer to “Booking Visits” on how to set up your Account
How do I know when my Grade 4 & 5 SnowPass expires?
There will be an expiry date on your account. Regardless of when you put in your application, the pass will expire at the end of Grade 5.
Is it 2 visits per year at each ski area?
No, it is 2 visits at each ski area over the lifetime of your SnowPass.
Can I use my SnowPass more than 2 times?
Yes, you can use your SnowPass many times but only twice at each ski area. Lucky for you there are a 100 ski areas to visit!
Can my child go without a parent/guardian?
Maybe. An “adult on-site” or a “full-price paying adult” may be required at some ski areas. Please refer to the restrictions listed for each participating ski area.
Can I use my SnowPass™ on a school trip or during a ski club race?
Unfortunately, you cannot, but there are lots of other times you can use your Grade 4 & 5 SnowPass™, like at night or on the weekend.
What if I need equipment or lessons?
We do not offer lessons or rentals through the SnowPass program. However, most of the ski areas have rental shops and instructors. Contact the ski area directly for pricing and additional information.
What if my child is home-schooled? Can they still apply for a Grade 4 & 5 SnowPass™?
Of course they can! Instead of sending a school report card, we ask that you upload a photo of your child’s birth certificate or any piece of identification that provides their year of birth.
Is the Grade 4 & 5 SnowPass™ eligible for the Canadian Children’s Fitness Tax Credit?
No, unfortunately based on the stipulations of Canadian Child’s Tax Credit, the Grade 4 & 5 SnowPass is not eligible for this program.
How long does the application take to submit?
Prior to starting the application process, we recommend that you have your child’s photo image and proof of age image ready to upload along with your method of payment. Visa, Mastercard, American Express are accepted. Debit, cash, and cheque are not accepted. The application should only take 5 minutes to complete.
How long does it take for my application to be processed?
We will begin processing applications on November 30th in anticipation for a mid-December opening. For people purchasing in the new year, applications will be processed within 3 business days.
How do I create an Account if I am a returning SnowPass Customer?
Visit https://store.goskiinggosnowboarding.ca/ and create an Account in your name, using the email that was used to purchase the SnowPass last year. Your child will automatically attach to this account by the time the booking system is open.
When can I start booking visits?
We anticipate the site being open to book in mid-December.
How early do I need to book my visit?
Bookings must be made in advance of your visit, but you can book right up to the day of your choice, as long as there is still capacity.
What if I book a visit and then I cannot go?
Date changes can be accommodated to a future date if done 30 hours prior to 6am of the day you’re booked. An example is if you booked for a Saturday, you have until Thursday at midnight to change your day or resort as long as there is availability.
Can I just show up at a Ski Area?
No, the SnowPass visits must be pre-booked in advance. With the new cardless system, you will not have anything to present at the ticket window unless you pre-book. If you find yourself at the ski area without pre-booking, you can Login to your Account and try to book a ticket. If capacity has not been depleted for the day you are in luck!
Is there a way to find out what ski areas I have already redeemed my visits?
Yes, you will be able to see that information in your Account.
How can I reach you for support?
We can be reached at [email protected] or 1-877-736-1117 during business hours.
What do I do when my photo won’t upload onto the website?
If your photo will not upload, please check that it is under 500kb in size and in a jpg/jpeg format.
How do I know if my photo is a JPEG (.jpg/.jpeg file)?
Most cameras automatically place photos in JPEG (.jpg) format. To check your photo’s format, click on the photo “properties” (or “Get Info” on Mac computers) and it will provide you with the photo information there.
If your photo is in a different format, you can use standard computer programs such as Microsoft Paint (or Preview on Mac computers) to change the photo format to JPEG (.jpg).
Please provide a “head and shoulder” image of your child.
How can I change my photo size?
Using a Mac – In “Preview”, click on the “tools menu” and select “adjust size”. Once the “adjust size: screen pops up, adjust the photo’s dimensions and image resolution until the size is under 500kb.
Using Windows – In an editing photo program like Microsoft Office Picture Manager, click “edit pictures”. Once the “edit pictures” screen appears, (generally to the right of your screen) click on the “compress pictures” option at the bottom of the screen. Once in the screen, click “web pages” (or any other option) until the size is less than 500kb.
How do I get a .jpg/.jpeg of my child’s report card or birth certificate?
We suggest keeping it simple and just using your camera to take a picture of the documents. Most cameras will take a photo and automatically save it in JPEG file format. Be sure the image shows a clear view of the child’s name and birthdate.
